The Toy Dolls is a British punk rock group. Formed in 1979, playing for the first time in the Millview Social Club Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, on October 20, 1979. After a couple of performances, the singer Pete Zulu left to form his own band. He was replaced by vocalist, Hud, who also left the group after a single action, making The Toy Dolls as a trio with guitarist Michael "Olga" Algar assuming the role of vocalist. It was only the beginning of the revolving door of drummers and bassists that would characterize the Toy Dolls over the years.
quickly built a local fanbase and were initially grouped with the Oi!, Emerging at that time, although many would say that, despite having the characteristic vocals of Oi!, are better classified as pop-punk. Another reason for the move associated with you Oi! is that they were championed by Garry Bushell, very involved with Oi! The Angelic Upstarts like (to which The Toy Dolls later supported on their first national tour). In 1980 a local businessman financed the first single, "Tommy Kowey's Car" with the song "She Goes To Finos" in your face B. Quickly sold its first 500 copies, but the band could not afford to edit more, making this album a collector's item.
In 1983 released their first LP, "Dig That Groove Baby" then and with the help of Bushell began to attract media attention national, and in 1984 busted the charts with their punk interpretation of "Nellie The Elephant", a classic children's song, which reached number 4 in the UK charts and remained in the top 100 for at least 12 weeks.
The Toy Dolls have continued since then with his eternal change labels and training, establishing fan bases in Europe, USA and Japan, publishing many LPs and singles that led to The Toy Dolls to what we know today .
