Soziedad Alkoholika, often abbreviated as SA, is a rock band based in Vitoria, Basque Country (Spain). His musical style is usually defined as thrash metal and hardcore punk, and comes from the wave of bands that changed their sound Basque punk to a heavier sound. His lyrics are often harshly criticize militarism, fascism, racism and sexism, among other issues.

Soziedad Alkoholika born in 1988 in Vitoria, John vocals, Jimmy (ex Hippolytus and The Kafirs) and Oskar on guitars, Roberto (former Prohibition) Iñaki on drums and the bass. At first they decide to call "ammonal", a name that had to be changed to match the other side. In 1990 Oskar left the group and joined Peter, who a few years later left the group replaced by Jabi (former Beer Mosh) to focus exclusively on Mil A Gritos Records label created by the band. In late 1996 Pirulo (Vitu's Dance) replaces Iñaki on bass.

His 1995 album was certified gold (over 50,000 copies sold in Spain). Throughout his career in Spain has sold over 350,000 albums.

In December 2006, released the DVD entitled Corrosive! maintained for several weeks among the top sellers of Spain coming to take second place in the official list Promusicae sales.

The April 21, 2008 released a new album called Bad Blood, recorded in the studios One of Madrid during the months of October and November 2007 and mixed by Tue Madsen during the first weeks of February in Denmark. The group changed its label, being booked on the international label Roadrunner Records. This work shows two contributions: one of João Gordo, Brazilian singer of hardcore punk Ratos de Porão (in the song "God vs. Allah") and another rap group Zaragoza Violadores del Verso (On the song "Politics of Fear (Rap Solo Remix)").

Confrontation with AVT [edit]

Since 2002, pressure from the AVT and some political parties like the Popular Party, have gotten multiple band's concerts have been canceled, The English court came to temporarily remove the records that had to sell the group.

In May 2004 the Association of Victims of Terrorism (AVT) filed a complaint against the group praising terrorism course of ETA in songs like "Explode Zerda" and "Northern syndrome." In September of that year Judge Baltasar Garzon opened the proceedings closed. In February 2005, rejected a new appeal against the group and agreed to the dismissal and the resulting free file open proceedings against Alkoholika Soziedad. However, the AVT filed another petition that was estimated by the National Court in December 2005 and January 2006, Judge Fernando Grande-Marlaska ordered to continue processing the case. Marlaska also closed the case but the decision was overturned by the Criminal Division.

The group has said on numerous occasions before and during the controversy that has never supported ETA and the AVT misinterpret lyrics of their songs.

In November 2006, were tried and eventually acquitted of the crime of praising terrorism.
